We’re going on a day trip to the Cotswolds.

The Cotswolds is a rural area of south central England covering parts of 6 counties, notably Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. It has rolling green hills and thatched medieval villages, churches and stately homes built of distinctive local honey yellow limestone.

We’re going to visit the most beautiful places in the Cotswolds.

Burford’s famous High Street sweeps downhill towards the River Windrush, its three-arched medieval bridge and its impressive church, both sides of the street flanked by an unbroken line of ancient houses and shops.

Bourton-on-the-Water has been described as the ‘Little Venice’ of the Cotswolds and is regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England, with its lovely waterside views of elegant low bridges beside neat tree-shaded greens, tidy stone banks and quaint limestone buildings.

Stanton is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled villages in the Cotswolds, with a main street lined with 16th and 17th century houses with steeply pitched gables, mullioned windows, thatched roofs and glowing honey coloured limestone walls.

Broadway Tower built as mock castle stands in a dramatic location commanding some of the best views across 16 counties of England and Wales.

Chipping Campden is one of the loveliest small towns in the Cotswolds and a gilded masterpiece of limestone and craftsmanship. The main street curves in a shallow arc lined with a succession of ancient houses each grafted to the next but each with its own distinctive embellishments.

We’re going by private coach, leaving from near Hammersmith station, and places are limited. It’s £39 each for the well-organised trip, 2-way transport, payment fees, guided tour, and lots of travel buddies to make some good friends.
